Description: 'The pelvis, in Latin, was called 'sacrum', from which we recieve 'sacred'. Several theories have been posited for this etymology. One likely assumption is that the pelvic bone of cows and pigs were often burnt in sacrifice to the gods. That such an ugly, eyeholed fragment would be considered the most divine gift a beast could bestow should be obvious; in its gaps and joins, pups are grown, the shortest distance from the gonads out of which they dripped. And so, in this basin from where all walking comes, we find the seat of procreation, which is to say, the soul.' Marshall Chester, 'The Roots Of Man'
