Description: "The Englishman, and all godly professors, may count another civilised being by their handshake, and determine their worth through the massage of the vein. Not so the native. And so, we come at last, after much prevaricating, to the first ritual. How does the native approach you, you strange animal, in your suit and tie, sweating under their sun or stinking under their gifted furs? Do they keep a distance, do they come right up to you, inquisitive, but never touching, or is there some sort of interchange, a bazaar of heat? Is there an embrace? By this we may make our fortunes amongst them, salaries of insight." Oscar's Parlay's initial notes for his famous '18 Rituals' thesis, 1926
